Mermaid Canvas

I started this project by painting my background onto my canvas. I mixed the paint colours until I got the shade I was looking for. I used long, uneven brush strokes to give the canvas more texture.

I then used wire cutters to cut off parts of the picks I didn’t need. I cut apart the White pick into 5 pieces and arranged them around the canvas.

Next I got a metallic coloured paper from my local dollar store. Theses pieces were 6″ by 6″ so I needed to piece them together to make the larger pieces. I used my Cricut to cut out the paper, layering gold and pink to make the mermaid tail, starfish and shell.

I glued everything onto my canvas. I used hot glue for the picks and a tacky glue for the metallic pieces.
